OVERLAND PARK, Kan. –March 18, 2021–    Kansas Gas Service is replacing natural gas meters in various areas of McPherson, Kansas, beginning the week of March 22. The project, which includes nearly 300 meters, is scheduled to take approximately six months to complete.

“To continue to provide safe and reliable service, we conduct routine inspections of our natural gas meters to confirm they are operating properly and accurately recording natural gas usage,” said Lauren Clary, Kansas Gas Service area community relations manager. “This is an annual project that we conduct in all of our operating areas, which includes replacing meters. We’ll make every effort to work as safely and quickly as possible to minimize the impact to our customers,” Clary said.

The work will take place Mondays through Fridays between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., and in some instances may require natural gas service to be turned off for a minimal amount of time. In those cases, when the work is completed, a technician will need to enter the customer’s home or business to complete safety checks and relight appliances.

Customers directly affected by these projects will be notified by NPL Construction Company, the contractor assisting Kansas Gas Service. The contractors will carry photo identification badges that identify them as working on behalf of Kansas Gas Service.
