OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Dec. 18, 2013 – Kansas Gas Service wants customers to be aware of a potential telephone scam that involves fraudulent callers posing as company employees demanding payment for their natural gas bills over the phone.

According to recent reports, a caller contacts customers requesting debit card or electronic check information as payment for a past-due balance.  Kansas Gas Service does not conduct business in this way and discourages customers from providing personal information over the phone unless the customer has made the initial contact. 

If a customer receives a suspicious call, they should hang up and call Kansas Gas Service at 800-794-4780 to verify the information.  Customers also may report the incident to their local law enforcement agency.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Sept. 26, 2013 – Kansas Gas Service is replacing natural gas meters throughout the city of Augusta, Kan.

Customers affected by this project will be notified by NPL Construction Company, the contractor assisting Kansas Gas Service, or by notice left at their home or business.

A standard meter replacement requires interruption of a customer’s natural gas service for approximately 20 minutes and access inside homes or businesses to properly relight appliances. The contractors performing the work will carry photo identification badges that identify them as working on behalf of Kansas Gas Service. This project is expected to be completed in five to six weeks.

The project is expected to be completed in approximately two months. Company officials do not anticipate any major interruption to traffic flow.
