Observe Tolerance Zones

A Tolerance Zone is an area on both sides of the utility line. Within this zone, the excavator is required to use the appropriate excavation options, such as hand digging, vacuum excavation or other similar safe excavation techniques to expose the underground facility.

In Kansas, the tolerance zone is 24 inches in all horizontal directions of the pipeline.

To report a natural gas odor or emergency, leave the area immediately and then call 911 and 888-482-4950.
