Ellinwood Outage - October 27, 2020 (10:00 a.m.)

Our technicians have made a complete pass through Ellinwood, Kansas to attempt to reach every customer impacted by the natural gas outage. Technicians will work today to make contact with the remaining customers who were not available. Door hangers with a phone number to call to restore service will be left at properties we’re unable to access.

Please remember: An adult must be present for our technicians to enter each customer location for safety checks and to relight appliances. 

 

Ellinwood Outage - October 26, 2020 (10:00 a.m.)

Our technicians worked through the night and are continuing today to reach the remaining customers in Ellinwood, Kansas who are impacted by the natural gas outage. Please be assured that we are working as quickly and safely as possible to resolve this issue that was caused by a damaged pipeline by a third-party.

If you are still without natural gas service, please call us at 800-794-4780. If you are calling after 7 p.m., please call 913-599-8998. Note: You may experience longer than normal hold times, as is common this time of year. Please do not attempt to turn the meter back on yourself.

As a reminder, our technicians will be asking each customer COVID-19 related questions prior to each restoration to determine the level of protective equipment necessary to provide service.

• An adult must be present for our service technician to enter each customer location for safety checks and to relight appliances.
• Our technicians wear company logoed clothing and yellow safety vests and carry identification, facemasks and other safety equipment as necessary.

If you are a customer affected by the outage and are still without natural gas service, please call us at 913-599-8998 to let us know if access to your property is possible tonight, or to schedule restoration for tomorrow.

Kansas Gas Service is committed to restoring natural gas service to customers impacted by the natural gas outage in Ellinwood, Kansas, as quickly and safely as possible. 
The outage was caused by third-party damage to the pipeline that serves the city.

Our technicians continue to go door-to-door to complete safety inspections and relight appliances. Please leave your porch light on if we are able to attempt contact with you after dark. If you are away from home when the technician arrives, a door hanger will be left at your residence with a phone number to call to restore service.

Kansas Gas Service technicians continue to go door-to-door to restore natural gas service to customers impacted by yesterday’s outage due to third-party damage to the pipeline that serves Ellinwood, Kansas.

Our team is committed to restoring service as quickly and safely as possible. Currently, we hope to have service restored to all customers by late tonight. If you are away from home when the technician arrives, a door hanger will be left at your residence with a phone number to call to restore service.

Please do not attempt to turn the meter back on yourself.

Yesterday, October 24, we experienced a natural gas outage in Ellinwood, Kansas, due to third-party damage to the pipeline that serves the city. Kansas Gas Service technicians worked through the night to restore service and are continuing today, going door to door to affected customers.

We appreciate the patience and kindness shown to us as we work as quickly and safely as possible to correct this outage due to a damaged pipeline struck by a third party. We have brought in additional technicians to better serve our customers.

Currently, we hope to have service restored to all customers by late tonight.

Information that you need to know:

  • Our technicians will be asking each customer COVID-19 related questions prior to each restoration to determine the level of protective equipment necessary to provide service.
  • An adult must be present for our service technician to enter each customer location for safety checks and to relight appliances.
  • Our technicians wear company logoed clothing and yellow safety vests and carry identification, facemasks and other safety equipment as necessary.
  • Please make sure any gates are unlocked so we can access our meters.
  • Please secure your pets for the safety of our technicians.

Ellinwood Outage - October 24, 2020 (11:15 p.m.)

Crews are continuing to respond to today’s damage to a Kansas Gas Service natural gas pipeline struck by a third party, resulting in the interruption of natural gas service to Ellinwood, Kansas.

This work requires our technicians to visit each home and business to seal off all natural gas meters.  Crews will be working through the night to make the pipeline repairs and may be able to begin restoring individual services before the daylight hours.  Restoration will require entry into each customer location for safety checks and to relight appliances.  Please leave your porch light on if we are able to attempt contact with you overnight, if restoration is possible. Otherwise, our technicians will return at the earliest opportunity during the next day to restore service. Please do not attempt to turn the meter back on yourself.

They are recommending customers:

  • Shelter in place if possible and consider using extra blankets to stay warm.
  • Do not use sources of heat that are not intended to be used inside.

Ellinwood Outage - October 24, 2020

Crews are responding to a damaged line struck by a third party, which has resulted in the temporary shutdown of the natural gas distribution system that serves Ellinwood, Kansas. We are bringing in technicians from other areas of the state to assist in the completion of repairs and restoration of service.

Our technicians are going to each home and business to turn off meters. When repairs have been completed technicians will return to complete safety checks and relight appliances. Please allow appropriate social distance while our technicians are working, which may include temporarily relocating to another area in the home or business.

Please do not attempt to turn the meter back on yourself.
